ESOS Energy Audit

Zimmer Biomet has been committed to reducing its impact on the environment including the reduction of energy and viewed ESOS as an opportunity to drive further savings. They requested a thorough wide ranging energy survey of the manufacturing and support services for the ESOS programme. This identified significant fast track financial savings, £190,000/year available from rapid payback opportunities (<1 year) for immediate implementation, and a further £115,000/year that could be realised through longer term investments that needed to be incorporated in the long term site development plans.

ESOS/Implementation & Project Management

Opportunities were captured on Briar Associates B-CoRE database allowing simple and easy tracking and monitoring of progress and savings delivered. Recognising the value of the identified opportunities for the business, Zimmer Biomet commissioned Briar Associates to assist them with project managing the implementation programme. Over the course of a year, Briar Associates worked closely with Zimmer Biomet to advance a programme to deliver in the order of £100,000/year of identified savings. In addition to investment in new lighting the majority of the savings have been achieved through management and operational improvements, operating equipment only when required and improved awareness driven by the department managers.
Zimmer Biomet continue to develop this implementation programme and act as a flag ship for energy reduction within the worldwide group.
